RED TRAIL ENERGY RECEIVES NORTH DAKOTA’S

2007 GOVERNOR’S CHOICE AWARD

Oct. 23, 2007: Greenway Consulting, LLC client, Red Trail Energy, LLC, is the recipient of North Dakota’s 2007 Governor’s Choice Award for Project of the Year. Red Trail Energy is located in Richardton, North Dakota. The award is given in recognition of outstanding contributions toward economic development in the state or North Dakota. Red Trail Energy was nominated by Gaylon Baker of the Stark Development Corporation. Red Trail is a $100 million ethanol production facility in the BioFuels industry utilizing coal as its primary energy source. All of the approximately $30 million in equity financing was raised solely from North Dakota investors. The plant produces 50 million gallons of ethanol per year and employs 38 people, making an average salary of $40,000. Baker said the average age of the new workers is 26 or 27, which has meant a new lease on life for Richardton’s school, churches and business community. Economic developer, Stark Development Corporation, received $1,000 as a result of the nomination.

 

Greenway Consulting, LLC worked on critical areas of Red Trail Energy from concept through start up. These include project development, financing, construction, and operations. After securing equity and financing, Greenway continued to work closely with Red Trail Energy and the design builders to assure optimal construction and operational quality. Greenway representatives were onsite daily throughout construction monitoring progress and administering the owner’s construction responsibilities which included site grading, drainage and utilities. Greenway also positioned key personnel onsite throughout the start up phase. Red Trail Energy has entered into a 5-year management contract with Greenway Consulting to secure the General Manager and Plant Manager positions, guaranteeing management expertise during this period. Outside of the top management positions at Red Trail Energy, Greenway has provided IT, accounting, risk management and project management support.
